A New, Independent Voice for Delaware

MIDDLETOWN, Del., July 29 /EMWNews/ -- One of the most

vocal opponents to the fiscal waste and mismanagement of DelDOT for the

past three years is announcing her run for State Senate. Andrea Daley, the

founder and chair of the Middletown Corridor Coalition announced on Friday

that she is formally seeking the nomination of the Republican Party for

State Senator in the 10th District. Through this bid for the nomination Ms.

Daley is working to create real, sustainable change and improvements in our

state government.

For the past three years, Ms. Daley has worked closely with Senator

Amick and Representative Dick Cathcart of the 9th district to have DelDOT,

Governor Minner and the Secretary of Transportation address critical issues

within the Department of Transportation's $1.1 billion dollar "Route 301

Bypass Project." Through this work, Ms. Daley has built a coalition of

government and community representatives striving to ensure that the voices

of our local citizens are heard and that their best interests are met.

According to Mr. Carl Edelin, of Middletown, "Andrea is running for

office to protect our rights and support our interests as taxpayers. I

wholehearted support Andrea, and her platform of fiscal and political

responsibility. She has worked closely with the State Auditor's office,

finding multiple counts of fiscal mismanagement within the Delaware state

government. In response to this work, she is now calling on all state

governmental agencies to conduct a top down review of their spending with

the goal of reducing fiscal waste."

Furthering this work, Ms. Daley is also in support of creating a

government that is open to all of our citizens. To ensure this occurs, Ms.

Daley is seeking an elimination of the Desk Drawer Veto which has plagued

the Delaware Senate for decades. Ms. Daley firmly believes that no Senator

should have the ability to permanently stop a bill from reaching committee.

This ability defies our democratic system and is one that should be

stopped.

"As a parent of young children, Andrea represents my interests,

ensuring that our education system is able to prepare our kids for the

future," stated Clarissa Roth. Ms. Roth continued, "Andrea believes that

access to high quality education is critical to the success and future of

your youth and serves as a strong advocate for education reform." Ms.

Daley's education platform includes working for an immediate reevaluation

of the DSTP test -- working to make that test more cost effective and

efficient, while allowing both our teachers and students to immediately

benefit from these tests, making results immediately available to teachers

for use in modifying and customizing lessons. Perhaps equally important,

Ms. Daley is working to ensure that the funds allocated to education in our

community are spent directly in the classroom, providing teachers and

schools with the tools and resources they need to enhance the education of

our young people.

Above all, Andrea Daley is a public servant known for her dedication to

constituent services. Ms. Daley works to speak out for those who may

otherwise be unable to speak for themselves. Ms. Daley promotes increased

State supportive services for our Military families, as well as protecting

the rights of our senior citizens. Andrea has extensive experience

listening and responding to the concerns of the community. For the last 20

years, she has been a grassroots organizer and volunteer for numerous

organizations. Through her work in the State Senate, she will continue to

serve as a community advocate, acting as a voice for the volunteers of our

state, the backbone of Delaware.

Andrea Daley will formally launch her campaign with a reception on

August 11th at 6pm at 336 W. Dickerson Lane in Middletown. For more
