America’s Fastest Growing Emergency Medicine Management Provider Deploys Cast Iron Systems for SaaS Integration

The Schumacher Group Rolls Out Cast Iron Solution to Integrate Salesforce.com With

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA–( EMWNews – April 8, 2008) – Cast

Iron Systems, the #1 SaaS integration provider, announces that The

Schumacher Group (TSG), the fastest growing and third largest provider of

emergency medicine practice management, has deployed Cast Iron’s platform

for integrating salesforce.com with other software-as-a-service (SaaS) and

back-office applications to streamline the recruitment and scheduling of

physicians as well as hospital and insurance billing and payments

processing. With 710 full-time employees, TSG manages 2,400 physicians who

care for 2.4 million patients each year in 150 emergency rooms (ERs) across

19 states.

The company is using Cast Iron’s pre-packaged SaaS connectivity to

integrate salesforce.com with Peak Software’s Tangiers physician scheduling

software as well as with PeopleSoft for physician-related accounting,

finance, and human resources and GE Business Centricity for hospital

billing. TSG is also using the Cast Iron solution to extract data from many

business applications, including Microsoft SQL Server databases and

Microsoft Excel, and move it into a data warehouse for analytics, adding

significantly to the company’s business intelligence.

“With our rapid growth and agile model, we need a scalable solution that

enables us to change our business processes as needs change,” said Doug

Menefee, CIO at The Schumacher Group. “We’re using the Cast Iron

integration platform to manage workflow across the extended enterprise as

well as improve the quality and reliability of our data. After looking at

multiple options, including custom code and ETL solutions, we chose Cast

Iron primarily based on its simplicity and rapid SaaS integration

capabilities. By using the Cast Iron platform to quickly take care of SaaS

and on premise integration issues, we’ve been able to keep our developers

focused on doing what they do best — solving our most complex business

issues.”

“CIOs and IT departments are under pressure to drive innovation instead of

just spending time and budget merely keeping the lights on and the

infrastructure up and running,” said Clarence So, CMO at salesforce.com.

“The Schumacher Group is generating business success using Cast Iron

technology to integrate the Force.com platform and Salesforce applications

within their enterprise.”

Menefee was honored with the Chief Innovation Officer Award at Dreamforce

’07, the salesforce.com user and developer conference, held in San

Francisco in September 2007. He was chosen from 35,300 customers by a panel

of experts at salesforce.com in recognition of his leadership in driving

innovation by integrating salesforce.com with PeopleSoft using Cast Iron

technology.

“Our SaaS integration platform is providing The Schumacher Group with the

competitive advantage they need to serve the urgent needs of ER doctors,

hospitals, and patients,” said Ken Comee, CEO at Cast Iron Systems. “Having

immediate access to reliable business information is key to sustaining

rapid growth and capturing additional market share. We are proud to play a

part in the success of such an innovative and fast growing company.”

The Cast Iron SaaS integration platform eliminates the cost and complexity

associated with traditional software-based integration tools. The company’s

products are designed to simplify the integration experience. This

simplicity enables new levels of efficiency for business processes in

companies of all sizes. Cast Iron’s customers complete integration projects

in days instead of months and at a cost of 80 percent less than with

traditional software-based alternatives. Using Cast Iron, companies can

easily maintain their integration projects using a “configuration, not

coding” approach.
