Amway Global and YMCA of the USA Join Forces to Encourage Healthy Lifestyles

Collaboration supports Activate America®, features consumer-education campaign and wellness resources for adults and teens

ADA, MI (EMWNews) August 6, 2008 — Amway Global and YMCA of the USA announced today that they will work together to expand the reach and impact of the YMCA’s efforts to build healthier communities across America. As part of the collaboration, Amway Global is making a significant financial contribution to support Activate America®, the YMCA’s response to our nation’s health crisis.

“Through Activate America, YMCAs are engaging their communities to better support people of all ages who are struggling to achieve and maintain well-being of spirit, mind and body,” said Lynne Vaughan, Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer for YMCA of the USA. “This collaboration with Amway Global will provide YMCAs with new opportunities to reach beyond their walls and connect with more health seekers, who can benefit from the YMCA’s holistic approach to well-being.”

Amway Global’s philosophy regarding optimal health is an excellent fit with the YMCA’s focus on healthy lifestyles

In addition to Activate America, Amway Global’s financial commitment will fund a consumer-education campaign designed to empower people to improve their health and well-being; targeted initiatives for teens; online wellness tools for adults and families; and grants to support wellness events at up to 100 YMCAs during America On the Move Week with the YMCA, a nationwide event that is designed to inspire individuals and families to incorporate healthy activities into their daily routines.

“Amway Global’s philosophy regarding optimal health is an excellent fit with the YMCA’s focus on healthy lifestyles,” says Steve Lieberman, the company’s managing director. “Amway has helped millions of people around the world take steps to improve their health and wellness. But like the Y, we believe wellness is about all we do to live a better life, and we look forward to collaborating with the YMCA to do even more to help Americans achieve optimal health.”

This collaboration aligns with Amway Global’s efforts to help raise public awareness about the benefits of living a healthier lifestyle. The company currently operates as Quixtar North America/Amway Global but is transitioning to the Amway Global name by 2009.

Since their founding nearly 160 years ago, America’s YMCAs have offered programs that enable individuals to strengthen their spiritual, mental and physical well-being. Today, YMCAs are collectively the nation’s largest providers of health and well-being programs, working to promote healthy living for millions of Americans.
