Annual Minnesota State Open Pro-Am Tournament to Benefit Special Olympics Minnesota

    MINNEAPOLIS, July 21 /EMWNews/ -- Please join us at the

second annual Minnesota State Open Pro-Am Tournament, a Minnesota Section

of the PGA Fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota! July 24, 2008,

Minnesota PGA golf pros will be teaming up with Special Olympics Minnesota

athletes and sponsors to hit the greens. Each team will have four members

who will each golf nine holes at Bunker Hills Executive Golf Course. The

event has a shot-gun start at 9 a.m.; a luncheon at noon; and new this

year, a private golf clinic offered by the pros to all participating

golfers at 1:30 p.m.



    "This is a great opportunity for Special Olympics Minnesota athletes to

show just how talented they truly are and what the game of golf means to

them," said Jay Meyerhoff, PGA member and Medina assistant golf

professional. "This is another example of how the Minnesota PGA is involved

in the community. It is about helping the athletes and Special Olympics

Minnesota. This is a great partnership that's going to last a long time."



    "We are so excited to be in our second year of this partnership," said

Dave Dorn, Special Olympics Minnesota president. "It is very validating for

our athletes to be involved with professionals in this way, and we look

forward to continuing a long partnership with the PGA and the golfing

community here in Minnesota."



    This year, Special Olympics Minnesota athletes who golf in the event

will also receive a special gift bag from Etonic and Nike including golf

shoes, gloves, caps and balls: a terrific package!
