CaringBridge(R) Enhances Web Service by Adding Printable CaringBook Option

New Feature Allows Users to Create a Book on CaringBridge Sites Documenting

Their Journey Through Treatment or Recovery

EAGAN, Minn., July 24 /EMWNews/ -- CaringBridge, a nonprofit Web

service that connects families and friends when someone is facing a serious

medical condition, treatment or recovery, now provides users with the

ability to preserve their personal Web site content in a

professionally-printed book format. Journal entries, guestbook messages,

tributes, photos and a dedication can be captured in a full-color

"CaringBook" for authors who wish to keep a remembrance of their journey

after their CaringBridge Web site is no longer a necessity for day-to-day

communication.

CaringBridge is able to offer this new feature through a partnership

with SharedBook, a custom publishing platform provider. Using SharedBook's

browser- based publishing platform, content automatically flows from any

CaringBridge Web site into a professional book that can be previewed,

personalized and ordered online.

Once a CaringBook is complete, CaringBridge members can share the book

with their friends and family electronically. Those invited to view the

book can also purchase a copy in its entirety.

"The CaringBridge experience and connection is very powerful," said

CaringBridge founder Sona Mehring. "Many times friends and family want to

have an ongoing remembrance of that connection. By offering this feature of

creating a timeless book of a CaringBridge experience, that is possible."

CaringBridge is the largest charitable nonprofit Web site in the world,

according to Nielsen//NetRatings' traffic rankings. Nearly 150,000 Web

sites have been created, generating more than half a billion visits and 20

million messages of hope and encouragement. The free service is funded

mainly by individual donations.

"CaringBridge is a tremendous resource for patients and their

families," said Caroline Vanderlip, chief executive officer, SharedBook

Inc. "We are delighted that SharedBook's platform can provide an easy way

for CaringBridge members to chronicle their journeys in book format."
