Deloitte Consulting LLP has agreed to pay $4.95 million to resolve claims that websites it designed for state employment agencies in Illinois, Ohio, and Colorado were unreasonably vulnerable to security breaches.
The motion for preliminary approval of the deal was filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Under the terms of the settlement, the defendant agreed to establish a $4.95 million settlement fund to compensate eligible claimants and will pay more than $1.6 million in attorneys’ fees and costs, as well as class member service awards.
Residents of Illinois, Colorado, and Ohio who filed pandemic-related unemployment claims and were notified by certain state agencies about a 2020 data security incident may be eligible for compensation for out-of-pocket losses, documented time, or attested time thanks to a recent $4.95 million class-action lawsuit settlement with Deloitte Consulting.
