international tour in more than 20 countries, Celine Dion is launching the

62-date North American leg of her Taking Chances World Tour at Boston’s TD

Banknorth Garden tonight. The tour will wind its way throughout the U.S.

and the singer’s native Canada over the course of six months, culminating

with a newly added show on February 13, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec. Directed

by Jamie King (Madonna’s Confessions World Tour, Christina Aguilera’s Back

to Basics World Tour, Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca World Tour), this

spectacular live concert event features Celine’s biggest hits, along with

songs from her recent English album “Taking Chances,” which was released on

Columbia Records in November 2007. “Taking Chances” is Dion’s first

full-length studio work since 2003’s multi-platinum “One Heart.”

Having sold close to 200 million units around the world since her American

debut in 1990, Celine Dion is one of the most successful performers in pop

music history. In addition to numerous U.S. and international gold,

platinum and multi-platinum certifications, Dion has seen two of her albums

— “Falling Into You” and “Let’s Talk About Love” — each achieve RIAA

Diamond status in recognition of sales of more than 10 million copies in

the U.S. alone (each selling 30 million worldwide). She has been awarded

five Grammy Awards; 1996’s Album of the Year and Best Pop Album; 1998’s

Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance as well as

presented with the World Music Award for the Biggest-Selling Female Artist

of All Time.
