Founder of Craigslist Joins DonorsChoose.org National Advisory Council
Craig Newmark Formalizes Relationship With a Charity He Has Long Championed
NEW YORK, NY–(EMWNews – August 25, 2008) – DonorsChoose.org today announced that Craig
Newmark, the founder, Chairman and customer service representative of
Craigslist, has joined the National Advisory Council of DonorsChoose.org, a
nonprofit website connecting donors with classroom needs in public schools.
“Craig Newmark has been a longtime supporter of DonorsChoose.org,” said
Charles Best, founder of DonorsChoose.org. “He has donated to many
classroom project requests on our website and has blogged about us
frequently. Craig even introduced Stephen Colbert to DonorsChoose.org when
being interviewed on The Colbert Report. Between his personal giving and
his advocacy, Craig Newmark is responsible for tens of thousands of public
school students getting books, art supplies, technology, and other
resources they need to learn. We’re thrilled that Craig is now joining our
National Advisory Council.”
“Donorschoose.org is a great way to help kids in school directly, no
middleman. It’s also a great example of how people can use the Net to help
each other out. I am honored to join the Donorschoose.org advisory board,”
said Craig Newmark.
