Gym Class Heroes Announce North American Tour; Co-Headline Trek Pairs Alt-Hip-Hop Stars With The Roots and R&B Sensation Estelle; New Singles/Videos Exploding Everywhere, Including Radio, TV, and Online; “THE QUILT” Drops September 9th

NEW YORK, NY–(EMWNews – August 11, 2008) – Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group Gym

Class Heroes have announced details of their upcoming co-headline tour with

The Roots. The North American schedule — which features support from

Homeschool/Atlantic Records R&B sensation Estelle — will begin on October

3rd at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live! and then traverse the continent through

a November 1st finale at Albany, New York’s Washington Avenue Armory (see

below itinerary).

Pre-sale tickets will be available tomorrow, August 12th, for all members

of Gym Class Heroes’ official fan club, The Varsity Club

(http://thevarsityclub.net). In addition to tickets, members receive a

chance to gain early entry to the venue as well as a meet-and-greet with

the band. All remaining tickets for the tour will then go on sale to the

general public on August 15th and 16th. Furthermore, one dollar from each

ticket sold will be donated to The Boys & Girls Club of Geneva

(www.GenevaBGC.com) and The Triple Threat Foundation

The tour celebrates the release of Gym Class Heroes’ hugely anticipated

fourth album, “THE QUILT.” The collection — which follows 2006’s RIAA

gold-certified breakthrough, “AS CRUEL AS SCHOOL CHILDREN” — arrives in

stores and at online retailers on September 9th. “THE QUILT” is available

now for pre-order via the Fueled By Ramen webstore,

http://store.fueledbyramen.com.

“THE QUILT” is highlighted by the first single, “Cookie Jar.” Produced by

The-Dream (Rihanna, Usher, Chris Brown), the track is currently ascending

the charts at multi-format radio outlets nationwide, including CHR/Top 40,

Urban, and Rhythmic. “Cookie Jar” is available now at all digital

retailers. The track’s companion video — directed by Dale “Rage”

Resteghini (Lil Wayne, Jim Jones, The Game) — will have its television

premiere on MTV’s new “FNMTV” on August 15th at 8 PM.

Furthermore, “Cookie Jar” is featured on the iTunes Store’s exclusive EP,

“PATCHES FROM THE QUILT.” The EP includes a trio of tunes from “THE

QUILT,” including “Peace Sign/Index Down (Feat. Busta Rhymes).” That track

is looking like another major hit for Gym Class Heroes — the “Peace

Sign/Index Down” companion video is currently the #1 Most Streamed clip at

MTV2.com, having just been added into rotation at mtvU and MTV Hits. The

video — also directed by Resteghini — has also just entered rotation at

BET’s “Rap City” and can be viewed online at the Official Fueled By Ramen

YouTube Channel, located at http://www.youtube.com/user/FueledByRamen.

Gym Class Heroes — currently spending their summer as headliners on the

Vans Warped Tour — will be featured on the cover of Alternative Press and

profiled in a wide array of upcoming national publications, including Spin,

Vibe, Blender, Complex, Giant, CosmoGirl, King, Maxim, Rolling Stone, and

Playboy.

“THE QUILT” sees Gym Class Heroes teaming up with a number of extraordinary

collaborators. In addition to The-Dream, producers include Cool & Dre

(Yung Joc, Young Jeezy, The Game) and the Geneva, NY-based band’s longtime

friend and collaborator, Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy. What’s more, “THE

QUILT” features special guest contributions from the one-and-only Busta

Rhymes, UK soul sensation Estelle, and the legendary Daryl Hall.

Acclaimed for their unique approach to alternative hip-hop, Gym Class

Heroes became an international sensation in 2007 with their #1 blockbuster

hit, “Cupid’s Chokehold/Breakfast In America.” The track was a multiple

chart-topping crossover smash and catapulted “AS CRUEL AS SCHOOL CHILDREN”

to RIAA gold certification for sales exceeding 500,000.

The band was named “Best New Artist” at 2007’s MTV Video Music Awards,

beating out such stars as Amy Winehouse and Carrie Underwood. GCH were all

over music television, with live performances and videos for such tracks as

the anthemic “Clothes Off!” appearing on MTV, its affiliated networks, and

FUSE. Additional Gym Class Heroes TV appearances included performances on

NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,”

ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

A remarkably dedicated live act, Gym Class Heroes have toured nearly

non-stop in recent years. In addition to headlining a number of packed-out

tours, the band played at countless festivals and radio-sponsored shows,

and shared stages with Fall Out Boy and Gwen Stefani.

Gym Class Heroes are: Travis McCoy (lead vocalist), Disashi

Lumumba-Kasongo (guitarist), Eric Roberts (bassist), and Matt McGinley

(drummer).

Heroes website, www.gymclassheroes.com, or the band’s MySpace page,

Homeschool/Atlantic recording artist Estelle is shaping up as one of 2008’s

brightest new stars via her worldwide blockbuster hit single, “American Boy

(Feat. Kanye West).” The track is featured on the British hip-hop/soul

sensation’s critically acclaimed U.S. debut album, “SHINE,” which was

released earlier this year.

Already certified gold by the RIAA for its digital sales success, “American

Boy” is currently the #1 track on the iTunes Store’s “Top R&B/Soul Songs”

chart, as well as a top 10 success on the overall “Top Songs” ranking. The

single is #12 on this week’s Billboard “Hot 100,” while also ascending the

top 40 at Rhythmic and CHR/Pop radio outlets nationwide. The “American

Boy” companion video — directed by Syndrome (Danity Kane, Lupe Fiasco) —

is now in rotation at MTV, BET, VH1, MTV Jams, MTV Hits, mtvU, MTV Tr3s,

BET J, FUSE, The N, and VH1 Soul, where Estelle has been named a “You

Oughtta Know” new artist.

“SHINE” is among the nominees for the UK’s prestigious Nationwide Mercury

Prize, scheduled to be presented on September 9th. Estelle was recently

honored as a “Best New Artist” nominee from the annual BET Awards. What’s

more, the Los Angeles Times recently declared Estelle to be among the top

candidates for a “Best New Artist” nomination at next year’s Grammy Awards.

“(Estelle is) the type of artist Grammy voters love,” wrote music reporter

Todd Martens in his “Extended Play” column. “Her fresh take on R&B spans

genres, from the reggae bump of ‘Come Over’ to the jazzy inflections of

‘Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)’ to the retro timelessness of ‘No Substitute

Love.’ Estelle’s more inventive than 2006 ‘Best New Artist’ nominee Chris

Brown, and just as elegant as 2005 ‘Best New Artist’ winner John Legend,

who also, by the way, guests on ‘SHINE.'”
