It’s been a struggle but we are hoping to have her home soon.  At this point she is stable but still has a long journey ahead.  As the vet bills have grown, she is our fur baby and have tried to do anything we can to make her healthy.  Two years ago we were fortunate to be able to rescue Aoki and her sister Zedd.  They came into our lives about 5 months after the loss of our first pet we had for 16 years.

In June 2017, Aoki had surgery to repair a bad knee cap.  She was put on Rimadyl, an NSAID that turns out had side effects of causing the autoimmune disease.  The drug manufacturer had a class action lawsuit settled in 2004 but yet continues to sell the drug to vets to use on pets.

We are hoping for the kindness of strangers to join us as we continue on our journey to get Aoki home and to keep her healthy.
