Join the Global Movement: Celebrate 10 Years of Peacebuilding at the HWPL World Peace Summit

Chicago, Illinois Aug 9, 2024 (EMWNews.com) – On September 18, 2024, the world will unite in a historic celebration as the 10th Anniversary of the HWPL World Peace Summit takes place in South Korea and across 122 countries. Under the theme “Creating World Peace Community Through Regional Collaboration,” this milestone event commemorates a decade of unwavering global commitment to peace and sets the stage for future strategies aimed at promoting global harmony.

Since its inception in 2014, the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) has spearheaded efforts to resolve conflicts, foster religious harmony, and establish legal frameworks for lasting peace. The inaugural HWPL World Peace Summit in Seoul brought together over a thousand influential leaders from politics, religion, women’s groups, youth organizations, and the media from about 140 countries. The summit marked the beginning of a global movement dedicated to addressing the root causes of conflict and securing a peaceful future for all.

Now, as we mark the 10th anniversary, HWPL invites citizens from every corner of the globe, especially in the United States, to join this monumental occasion. The event will not only celebrate past achievements but also chart the course for the next decade of peace initiatives. Through a series of sessions held worldwide, regional talents and leaders will come together to strengthen networks, address local peace threats, and build strategies tailored to their unique challenges.

With the rallying cry “Let’s have everyone become a messenger of peace,” HWPL emphasizes the importance of individual responsibility in advancing peace. As part of the anniversary, messages of peace will be collected from people worldwide and showcased at the summit, symbolizing the collective desire for unity and harmony across all cultures and nations.

Reflecting on the impact of the past decade, HWPL has tackled critical global issues–from military tensions and economic disputes to climate change and cybersecurity–through enhanced regional cooperation and collective action. The organization remains steadfast in its mission to build a robust peace governance framework that connects international organizations, governments, and civil societies.

At the 9th Anniversary in 2023, Chairman Lee Man-hee of HWPL posed a powerful question: “Why should the lives of young people be sacrificed in war? What is politics, and for whom is it for? When war breaks out, it is young people who are sacrificed. Peace cannot be achieved through words alone. If peace had won in this world, there would have been no regrettable deaths. We must leave peace as a legacy to the global community where our descendants will live.”
