JUSTUS BOYZ Too Sexy for CBS
CBS Super Screen Airs Alternate Underwear Ad
NEW YORK, NY–(EMWNews – August 20, 2008) – CBS Network was all set to air The Justus
Clothing Company’s sexy JUSTUS
BOYZ underwear ad on its CBS Super Screen in the heart of New York
City’s Times Square District, but pulled the spot at the last minute for
being “too sexy.” The ad was scheduled to debut on August 11th in
conjunction with CBS coverage of “America’s Greatest Athletes” and the 2008
Summer Games in Beijing, China.
The ads were to display giant-sized versions of the sexy JUSTUS BOYZ models
adorned in their JUSTUS BOYZ underwear. Said Justus Clothing co-owner Phil
Elam, “Everything was set and ready to go and then at the last minute CBS
pulled the spot over concerns of showing too much skin.” A new tamer
version of the spot was produced and began airing Tuesday, August 19th.

“When the ad was pulled, it was back to the drawing board. We still needed
to show the Justus Boyz underwear, but had to be more creative,” says
Michael Cain, VP of Operations at Neutron Media, CBS’ supplier of
advertising content for its Super Screen. Phil continues, “We were still up
to the challenge even though we couldn’t show a guy in his skivvies for an
underwear ad. Fortunately, the guys are so hot the new spot still gets the
job done.”
CBS did not provide an official statement regarding their decision. “It
just goes to show how careful CBS has become [since the infamous Janet
Jackson / Justin Timberlake wardrobe malfunction during the 2004 Super Bowl
Half Time Show produced by MTV.] The government clamped down so hard on
them we can’t blame CBS for being so cautious,” added Justus co-owner
Michael Boila.
The CBS Super Screen is located under the giant CBS Network classic “Eye”
logo on the Loews building directly across from the nations’ busiest bus
terminal. According to Neutron Media, 1,500,000 million people pass this
location daily.
Said Neutron Media’s Director of Sales, Clement Charles, “The JUSTUS BOYZ
all-American, masculine image is a natural fit for our athletic coverage.
We became aware of JUSTUS BOYZ because of their unique print advertising
campaign which features athletic guys in their underwear. There was one ad
in particular showing an incredibly fit guy holding himself straight out
parallel to the ground on a swinging gate to a corral…it didn’t seem
possible, but it turns out model Chris Whitlow was goofing around while the
crew was preparing for another shot and stunned everyone at the photo shoot
with his athletic abilities.”
