The company signed acceptance of a land lease with the Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu (LTAWNT) for the establishment of a RM100 million state-of-the-art recovery plant at Kerteh Biopolymer Park that will be developed in stages.

An official document exchange ceremony at the ECERDC office in Putrajaya marked this momentous occasion. The event, lasting approximately two hours, was graced by the presence of several VIPs alongside YBhg. Dato’ Baidzawi bin Che Mat, CEO of ECERDC, and YB Haji Mohd. Nurkhuzaini bin Ab. Rahman, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa, Ekonomi Digital, Pendapatan Baharu, Perdagangan, Perindustrian dan Teknologi Hijau as well as YBhg Dato’ Mahamad bin Hussain, Director of Pentas Flora Recovery (East Coast) Sdn Bhd. These important figures included En. Mohd. Adzhar bin. Mohd. Zahari from UPENT, YBhg. Dato’ Ragu Sampasivan from ECERDC, Dato’ Pintaz Badhur, Director of Pentas Flora, and others.

This collaboration between Pentas Flora, LTWANT and the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) signifies a major step forward in addressing Malaysia’s growing waste management challenges. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the country generated an estimated 38.1 million tonnes of solid waste in 2022, with an alarming projection of solid waste reaching 45 million tonnes by 2030 (https://www.dosm.gov.my/).  The establishment of this advanced recovery plant in Kerteh Biopolymer Park positions itself as a crucial solution to promote sustainable waste management practices within the East Coast Economic Corridor (ECER).

YBhg. Dato’ Baidzawi bin Che Mat expressed his enthusiasm for the venture, highlighting its significant potential to contribute to the growth of ECER.
