The Georgia Center for Performance Excellence examines best practices on introducing change in the education sector at its Mindshift event on Sept 19th, 2008.

Atlanta (EMWNews) August 7, 2008 — The Georgia Center for Performance Excellence (GCPE), a not-for-profit organization empowering Georgia organizations to achieve excellence, is challenging Georgia’s educators to be part of “Georgia’s Mindshift for Education” September 19th, 2008. The first 80 Principals and Superintendents who participate in the GCPE Challenge, an online assessment of their school, based on the GCPE Framework for Performance Excellence will receive free registration to the September event. The online assessment provides educators with an evaluation of their strengths and challenges and will help them develop action plans to address key improvements that will take them to the next level.

At its showcase event on Friday September 19th, the Georgia Center for Performance Excellence will bring educators in Georgia together to learn about the new and valuable opportunities available to improve our state’s education performance. Participants at the September event titled “Solving Georgia’s Educational Challenge, Leveraging Best Practices in Pursuit of Excellence,” will gain insight from the keynote speaker as well as a panel discussion featuring questions from event participants. The keynote speaker, Dr. Winston A. Whyte recipient of the Florida 2007 Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership and principal of Howard D. McMillan Middle School, a Florida Governor’s Award recipient school, will be presenting “Leading an Organization through Change – The Sterling Experience”. Educators who complete this workshop will understand how adoption of the Framework for Excellence improves student achievement, empowers staff, improves morale, and creates equity in education. They will take away replicable practices and real world next steps to promote educational excellence in Georgia.
