OIL CITY, Pa., Aug. 6 /EMWNews/ -- On August 1, area legislators,

elected officials, volunteers, and many area citizens gathered at Drake

Well Museum to announce the recent passage of multiple resolutions and to

recognize the kick-off of "Oil 150" and "Oil Heritage Month."

Mr. Will Wingo, Oil 150 Director at the Oil Region Alliance, welcomed

guests and encouraged one and all to participate in the 17-month

celebration of the anniversary of the August, 1859 beginning of petroleum

production at Drake Well along Oil Creek in Venango County, near

Titusville, Pennsylvania. The nationwide celebration also acknowledges the

progression of oil finds, inventions, and business development which has

reached across the USA and around the world in the subsequent 150 years.

Representatives of Local, State and Federal Government were represented

and presented resolutions that have been adopted by the respective

governmental agencies in support of the Sesquicentennial of Oil. Crawford

House of Representatives and Pennsylvania Senate have already adopted

official resolutions and Federal Resolutions are pending introduction in

the U.S. House and Senate.

"This site has stood the test of time. Soon here at Drake Well visitors

will also see a newly installed geothermal system, plus the new exhibits

which will move the coverage to the present and into the future. The theme

for the new exhibits is 'There's a drop of oil in your life everyday.'"
