Susan Wojcicki: The Former CEO of YouTube Died at 56

In a Facebook post, he wrote ‘It is with profound sadness that I share the news of Susan Wojcicki passing. My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today after 2 years of living with non-small cell lung cancer’. He even shared his grief by saying ‘not just my best friend and partner in life, but a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many. Her impact on our family and the world was immeasurable. We are heartbroken, but grateful for the time we had with her. Please keep our family in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time’.

Wojcicki has served in Google for a long time and her contribution to the company has been immense. She was one of the very first women to work in Silicon Valley. It also came to know that, she was the 16th employee of the company, which explains her part in building this enormous company. She has been endlessly working for the company for 25 years. The Google CEO, Sundar Pichai has shared her ‘core’ memory with Wojcicki by saying ‘She was an incredible person, leader and friend who had a tremendous impact on the world and I’m one of countless Googlers who is better for knowing her. We will miss her dearly’.

Previously, last year, she announced stepping back from her position as the CEO to focus on her family more. And now, she is not anymore, which is a heartbreaking moment for everyone. She was one of the people who saw building today’s largest video streaming platform, YouTube. At the time of leaving the CEO position, Susan Wojcicki said ‘I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved, It’s been exhilarating, meaningful, and all-consuming’. Her presence has helped the company to grow at a large scale.
