Two offices win new dental equipment in Treatment Room Makeover Contest

                                 from A-dec

NEWBERG, Ore., Aug. 12 /EMWNews/ -- Two dental practices will be

enjoying a full makeover of a treatment room, complete with new dental

equipment, courtesy of a contest put on by A-dec, Inc. Each grand prize

package has a suggested retail value of $50,000.

Dr. Juliette Murcko's contest entry for new dental equipment convinced

A-dec contest judges that her patients deserved a full treatment room

makeover. Her Pittsburgh neighborhood practice's third treatment area still

housed her recently retired father's red 1956 Ritter unit. The room was

quite a topic of curiosity for new patients with its vibrant color and many

mechanical arms reaching out over the patient chair.

The other grand prize winner, Dr. Stewart Shernan, owner of Andaluna

Cosmetic Dental in the Boston area, was nearly speechless upon hearing that

his practice was a grand prize winner. "I just can't believe it! I'm at a

loss for words," he said.

"I was thinking of new equipment again this year and went to the A-dec

website," said Dr. Shernan. "The contest for a full treatment room makeover

showed up on the screen and my wife said, 'this is kismet, you've got to do

it.' I had my doubts; I don't think I've ever won anything in my life."

Dr. Shernan entered the treatment room makeover contest earlier this

year with a photo of his late father's 55-year old equipment and a plea to

update the space for patients. When planning his new treatment room, Dr.

Shernan wanted to ensure his father's patients were comfortable in familiar

surroundings. The new room will allow patients to view his father's antique

equipment on display and feel right at home.

"We're very happy to award these prizes. From the photos we received

from our two grand prize winners, we know that their practices are very

deserving," said Peggy Fisher, A-dec's Director of Marketing. "This contest

promotion has been a great way for our company to reach out to our dentist

partners and help their practices continue to be successful."

To become a contestant, doctors either went online to the A-dec web

site, or filled out a postage-paid form with a photo of their current

treatment room along with a brief essay on why they wanted the chance to

win a treatment room makeover. A-dec received nearly 1,900 entries during

the contest. Fifty doctors were also awarded VIP trips to A-dec's

headquarters in Newberg, Ore., in the Willamette Valley's wine growing

region.
