New website helps Coloradans know more about this fall's ballot measures CHICAGO, Aug. 5 /EMWNews/ -- Voters in Colorado can explore a new, collaborative website to learn about the 2008 ballot initiatives. Ballotpedia.org provides voters with comprehensive information on all 19 ballot measures in Colorado, where voters will have the opportunity to vote on more initiatives than any year since 1912, the first year initiatives and referendums were authorized in the state, if all measures filed by yesterday's deadline are certified for the ballot. Information available on Ballotpedia.org includes details on initiative supporters and opponents, financial reports, litigation news, status updates, poll numbers, and more. "The Ballotpedia.org website is information central when it comes to all things ballot related," said Eric O'Keefe, chairman of the Sam Adams Alliance, a national non-profit organization that strives to educate and inform citizens about political issues. "Whether you're a journalist on deadline, a blogger or voter looking for information on a particular initiative, Ballotpedia can help you." Currently, eight ballot measures have been certified for the ballot, four legislative referrals and four citizen-initiated constitutional amendments. In addition, 11 citizen initiatives filed sufficient signatures by yesterday's deadline to make the ballot if enough of those signatures are determined to be valid by the Secretary of State. "Coloradans are facing controversial issues," said O'Keefe. "Now they have all the information they need to make informed decisions on these vital issues." Two of the eight measures on the ballot, Amendment 46 and 47, are currently facing post-certification signature challenges.
