South Florida consultancy launches nationwide service helping general dentists evaluate opportunities to grow individual procedures, starting with diagnosis rather than marketing.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida Oct 10, 2026 (EMWNews.com) – General dentistry is facing growing economic pressure. Rising operating costs, insurance reimbursement challenges, and staffing difficulties are forcing practice owners to make increasingly deliberate decisions about where to invest their time and resources.

According to the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute, dentists entered 2026 anticipating significant economic and operational challenges. Insurance-related concerns (55.3%), staffing and workforce shortages (54.2%), and rising overhead costs (41.5%) ranked among their leading concerns.

Against this backdrop, a fundamental question deserves more attention: Rather than focusing exclusively on growing an entire dental practice, what opportunities might exist within individual procedures?

For dentists, the question can begin immediately after completing continuing education.

A dentist may invest considerable time and money learning a new procedure. But what happens Monday morning when that dentist returns to the practice?

Clinical training is one part of the equation. Successfully introducing or expanding a procedure may also require evaluating patient demand, team readiness, scheduling, equipment, operational capacity, and patient communication.

The same questions apply to procedures already being performed. A practice may want to increase its implant, endodontic, cosmetic, or surgical services without first understanding what is limiting their growth.

“Dentists are trained to diagnose before recommending treatment,” said Steve Foley, founder of One Procedure Dental. “We believe the same thinking should apply when evaluating opportunities to grow a procedure.”

Foley has launched One Procedure Dental (OPD), a South Florida-headquartered consultancy serving general dentists nationwide. The company follows three stages: Diagnosis, Procedure Protocol, and Treatment.

The approach is not intended to replace traditional practice marketing or suggest that every procedure represents a worthwhile growth opportunity.

Instead, it begins by evaluating the individual procedure, the practice’s capabilities, and the opportunity before determining what actions make financial and operational sense.

Drawing on years of experience working with medical and dental practices, Foley began recognizing a recurring disconnect between clinical capabilities and practice growth.

“Working alongside medical and dental professionals, I began to recognize that learning how to perform a procedure and successfully growing that procedure are two very different things,” Foley said. “That observation became the foundation for One Procedure Dental.”

As dental practices navigate an increasingly challenging economic environment, the conversation about growth may need to extend beyond attracting more patients to understanding which procedures a practice is positioned to deliver successfully.
