Durban loan service EzyFund urges South Africans to check a lender’s NCR registration before borrowing

KwaZulu Natal, South Africa Nov 1, 2026 (EMWNews.com) – EzyFund, a free online loan service based in Westville, Durban, is reminding South Africans to check that any lender they deal with is registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR) before they hand over personal details or sign a credit agreement.

The most common loan scam in the country asks the applicant to pay a fee up front so that a loan can be “released”. Registered lenders do not work this way. EzyFund tells anyone who receives such a request not to pay and to report it to the NCR on 0860 627 627.

EzyFund itself does not lend money. Borrowers who need between R500 and R8,000 complete one online form, which takes about three minutes and needs no document uploads. With the applicant’s consent, EzyFund passes the form to a credit provider registered with the NCR. That lender carries out the credit and affordability checks required by law and decides whether to offer a loan.

If the lender can help, the applicant receives a pre-agreement statement and quotation that lists every fee, and is free to turn the offer down. Loans are repaid over one to six months, normally by debit order.

Before applying, borrowers can use the calculator on the EzyFund website to see the highest amount a loan could cost under the National Credit Act. The lender may charge less.

Using EzyFund costs the borrower nothing. The company may receive a fee from the lender it introduces, and personal information is handled under POPIA. People already struggling with repayments can ask the NCR to refer them to a registered debt counsellor.
