Allow me to share “our” story. It all began when I met my husband-to-be [A.C.]. We knew instantly that God had brought us together and began planning for our wedding. It was not much later that A.C. received custody of his children [ages 3 & 6]. The children had been removed from their biological mother’s care after evidence of sexual and physical abuse. After I met them, I decided not to go forward with a wedding [too costly] but rather to get married at the courthouse. I also sold my house and used those meager proceeds to begin our life together. Through the generosity of his uncle, we were able to take up residence in a mobile home. The rent was very reasonable, and we have called it home for twelve years.
Unfortunately, we are now in need of a “new” home, as this one has outgrown its use [roughly 40+ years old]. It is literally falling apart at the seams. It is beyond fixable, and his uncle is no longer able to provide help of any form. We live on a very modest income but not enough to qualify for any government programs or loans. My husband has major health issues as well. He has been on disability for seven years. I am also not able to work due to health issues of my own. It has been rather difficult on all of us.
As you can tell by the pictures, the house is in horrific condition. There is extensive water damage, causing mold to grow and the floors to weaken. These soft spots are in danger of giving way. My daughter’s room is no longer livable. She was attacked by carpenter ants through a hole in her wall [being held up with duct tape]. Our family room has essentially become her bedroom. We are also plagued by roaches, spiders, snakes, and ants. Living in a highly-wooded area, not a day goes by that we don’t see some kind of pest. Sadly, our cat was recently killed by a rattlesnake in our front yard. We don’t venture out after 5 p.m.
We are desperate for any kind of help! Thank you and God bless you!
