My husband, Junior and I have been honored with the incredible opportunity to participate as missionaries on a trip to Nairobi, Kenya this coming July! Good Hope Clinics organization is partnering with our church, Calvary Christian Church, and will lead the mission.
The missions team clinical staff will administer eye care exams to hundreds of adults and children (in many cases this will be their very first eye exam ever); distribute glasses specific to patients prescription; perform eye surgery on cataracts and any other operable eye diseases or issues; teach preventative eye care education; and plan long-term clinic development, In addition to Good Hope Inc. clinic administering the eye care mentioned above, assembled prayer teams will be praying for and with these children and adults.
The Assembly of God church in Nairobi, Kenya that we will partner with runs an orphanage with approximately 150 children (this is one of so many orphanages in Kenya). Due to the HIV/AIDs epidemic which has taken a devastating percent of the population. there is an overwhelming number of abandoned children in Nairobi. The family’s of these children are afraid to take them into their homes for fear they will contract the deadly disease that the children’s parents died from.
Here is what we will be doing in addition to assisting with the eye clinic.
Time is one of the most precious gifts that a person can give – Junior and I will be spending our time showing love and sharing God’s word with these orphans and anyone God puts in our path. We understand our reason for-being is to live our lives in a way that will glorify God as well as encourage and uplift others! We will listen to what they have to say and pray with and for them, sharing all we know about our King and Savior. We trust that God will put people in our path who have never heard of Him, and help us bridge the gap between them and Jesus, so He may satisfy and comfort those souls and hearts that hunger and thirst for Him – filling a void they didn’t know how to fill.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 (the trip costs $2500 per missionary (which will cover our airfare, meals and sleeping accommodations; and also school supplies, books, clothing, soccer and sports equipment for the orphanage. The cost to enable us to travel to Nairobi, Kenya on this missions trip to provide much needed supplies, clinical care and prayer to these orphans and people is important and worthwhile, however we can’t do it without your help!
Contributing funds to a missions trip is another way to serve, and you will also be helping an underprivileged people in a third world country. Please show your love and partner with us and help.
May the grace and peace of God always be with you.
