Hello Shipmates, I am a Navy Veteran who struggled in the past trying to gain employment. I recently moved from a veterans shelter in Riverside County, California. I have noticed that there are many barriers in preventing some veterans from gaining employment, but one in particular is there inability to go to and from job interviews because of the lack of fuel for there vehicle. This problem is particularly magnified due to the unreliability of public transportation with regards to its available hours and non service in many areas of the county. Funds raised will be used to purchase gas cards in bulk for savings, and the cards will be delivered personally to the veterans to avoid unnecessary and frustrating bureaucratic paperwork.
The Job market seems to be getting better and it is a perfect time for homeless veterans to gain employment and to restore some sense of self-worth.
