Greetings & Talofa! My name is Ruth & I have created this campaign on behalf of my Dad, Pepe Taumafai Ieremia Epati, to help pay for some of his medical expenses/bills. I graduated from high school in 2017 and decided to not go to college, because I knew that my Dad needed my care more. I currently have a part-time job, and with my monthly income, I can’t cover most of the out-of-pocket costs for the treatments he has for his well-being, and that’s why I have created this platform on GoFundMe.
Pepe currently has Type 2 Diabetes and was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3 (CKD) and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease last year, which come with expensive treatments for reoccurrences of symptoms that lead to severe cases that require surgery. He has been admitted to 3 of Seattle’s Swedish Hospitals, Renton’s Valley Medical Center, and Renton’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Facilities in the state of Washington, to help improve his health and well-being, and he has been bed-bound ever since. My Dad has been through so much and with the many operations and treatments, from toe amputations on both feet to G-tube replacements to having CT scans, MRI, and Echocardiogram appointments every few months, the out-of-pocket costs are very high, that for some, even his insurances don’t cover them. Even with the costs of expensive treatments, it’s a miracle that he is still fighting to hold on, because he has been a sick man for a very long time.
Before he became severely ill, he was a minister in American Samoa for over 20+ years and has been and still is a great influence in the lives of many, and now he is currently unemployed because of his condition as of this moment. He was referred to the United States for an MRI due to a Nasopharyngeal mass in the back of his throat and a paralyzed left vocal chord in July 2017, causing him to not be able to take anything by mouth, such as food, water, and medicine, as that might trigger something to go into his lungs. Pepe is a humble and friendly man, and I’ve had second thoughts in doing a GoFundMe for him, because he is not someone who likes to ask or asks for help with anything especially with finances, but with the many success stories and “miracles” I have read through with the help of this site and organization, and knowing that there is still hope to lighten his financial burdens, I feel that I need to give this a shot, because he deserves the utmost best, especially at this time of his need.
Although with your help/donation, I can help give back to all the good he has done and give him a peace of mind with his many medical bills. He has a medical expense balance of $13,000+ for the Swedish Hospitals alone, with his other bills still coming in. This platform is mainly to help Pepe pay off his medical expenses, and all donations will go to towards that cause. Any donation will be greatly appreciated & don’t forget to spread the word, please!
I hope you all have a wonderful day. God bless. Thank you!!!
