Annual Minnesota State Open Pro-Am Tournament to Benefit Special Olympics Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS, July 21 /EMWNews/ -- Please join us at the second annual Minnesota State Open Pro-Am Tournament, a Minnesota Section of the PGA Fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota! July 24, 2008, Minnesota PGA golf pros will be teaming up with Special Olympics Minnesota athletes and sponsors to hit the greens. Each team will have four members who will each golf nine holes at Bunker Hills Executive Golf Course. The event has a shot-gun start at 9 a.m.; a luncheon at noon; and new this year, a private golf clinic offered by the pros to all participating golfers at 1:30 p.m. "This is a great opportunity for Special Olympics Minnesota athletes to show just how talented they truly are and what the game of golf means to them," said Jay Meyerhoff, PGA member and Medina assistant golf professional. "This is another example of how the Minnesota PGA is involved in the community. It is about helping the athletes and Special Olympics Minnesota. This is a great partnership that's going to last a long time." "We are so excited to be in our second year of this partnership," said Dave Dorn, Special Olympics Minnesota president. "It is very validating for our athletes to be involved with professionals in this way, and we look forward to continuing a long partnership with the PGA and the golfing community here in Minnesota." This year, Special Olympics Minnesota athletes who golf in the event will also receive a special gift bag from Etonic and Nike including golf shoes, gloves, caps and balls: a terrific package! For 35 years, Special Olympics Minnesota has been enhancing the human potential and quality of life for children and adults with intellectual disabilities by offering year-round sports training and competition. By sharing their joy and courage, our athletes inspire the human spirit in all of us.
