Boston-Power and the Northeast 100 Top Companies will be honored at the

AlwaysOn Venture Summit East to be held April 7 – April 9, 2008, at the

Four Seasons Hotel in Boston, MA. The first-annual Northeast 100 list was

compiled by the AlwaysOn editorial panel. To be eligible, companies had to

be creating new business opportunities in high-growth markets,

demonstrating significant market traction and pursuing game-changing

technology in a key sector. AlwaysOn received hundreds of nominations for

this year’s list.

To compile the Northeast Top 100 Companies of 2008 list, AlwaysOn surveyed

more than 500 venture investors, investment bankers, and technology

insiders. Those industry influencers nominated hundreds of companies, which

were subsequently evaluated and the winners selected. To warrant inclusion,

each Northeast 100 company had to exemplify leadership among its peers in

the following areas: innovation, market opportunity, commercialization,

media buzz, and stakeholder value creation.

Boston-Power’s Sonata redefines the portable power space by establishing

new benchmarks in safety, cycle life, performance and environmental

sustainability. Initially targeting notebook computers, Sonata delivers the

longest cycle life ever available from any Lithium-ion battery. That

This round was one of the biggest venture investments for the year in

energy storage and among the top 10 largest investments overall in New

Batteries, the number one battery manufacturer in Asia outside Japan and

the top consumer battery manufacturer in Greater China.
