Dentists and Patients, Tire of Phone Tag, Turn to UAppoint

UAppoint, the web-based, self-serve appointment scheduling and automated notification service, integrates seamlessly with 85% of dental practice management software packages. Instead of spending hours on the phone during regular office hours, dental patients can now schedule recommended preventative care, on-line, in an instant.

New Orleans, LA (EMWNews) August 3, 2008 — One of the barriers to receiving needed routine medical/dental care is the hassle of scheduling an appointment. Patients complain of having to call their doctors’ offices and work through a maze of phone options to schedule an appointment. Medical staff can be overwhelmed by patient calls, the hours spent negotiating for the optimal appointment time and coordinating office resources (personnel, equipment, materials and space) with patient needs.

To remedy the situation, UAppoint, the smart patient scheduling service, now offers an online systems that links doctors and patients. Unlike other systems, UAppoint’s service is smart — so smart, that it has been issued a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office. The patented system allows patients to request appointments day or night, based on predetermined needs of the patient. Since the invitation to schedule an appointment originates with the doctor’s office, there is no need for patient registration, login name or passwords.

Now with the release of the latest version, fully supporting PracticeWorks, all five major dental PMS’ are fully integrated for online scheduling. The service has been field tested since 2001 by Dr. Dov Glazer who was involved in its design, and has been using the service in his dental practice ever since. The service creates a real-time report of all patients who are due or past-due for needed care. Dr. Glazer explains, “From the recall report, staff members simply click on the names that need to be invited to schedule a hygiene appointment. Patients with an email on file can schedule their appointment instantly. If the patient lacks an email address, UAppoint automatically prints, labels, stamps and mails out a recall postcard.” To see how it works click here.

Atlanta prosthodontist, Dr. Hal Arnold, recently had the beta version of UAppoint installed in his PracticeWorks supported office, and says that UAppoint helps him quickly and easily connect with his patients. “We discovered that when patients schedule an appointment online they feel a greater sense of ownership and more in control. We were delighted to discover that patients who schedule online, benefit from the email reminders, and very rarely miss or come late for their appointment,” he said.

According to the July 2008 issue of Gordon Christensen’s Clinicians Report, “Today 85% of the practice management software (PMS) market is dominated by five companies; Henry Schein 38% (Dentrix, Easy Dental), Kodak PracticeWorks 23% (Softdent, PracticeWorks), Patterson 21% (Eaglesoft),” With the release of UAppoint version 2.3, PracticeWorks joins the other software packages in being fully integrated with the online scheduling service. In the next version, Open Dental Software will also work seamlessly with UAppoint.

By integrating with the major dental practice management software programs, the online service provides scheduling, reminders, confirmations, thank you messages and more. Thus the mundane tasks of scheduling and confirming appointments is relegated to the computer, eliminating forever the annoyance and aggravation of playing phone tag.
