Buffalo, NY (EMWNews) August 14, 2008 — The anticipated 300,000 baseball fans attending the 2008 Little League Worlds Series can look forward to big league offerings at family-friendly pricing, thanks to food service provider Delaware North Companies Sportservice.

For the iconic event that begins Friday and runs through Aug. 24 in Williamsport, Pa., Sportservice will once again feature affordable ballpark fare such as hamburgers for $2.50 and hot dogs for $1.50.

“The Little League World Series is a special event, and Sportservice is proud to serve the thousands of fans who attend every year,” said Rick Abramson, president of Delaware North Companies Sportservice. “With so many young fans and families attending the Little League World Series, we’ve kept the focus on pricing that works for them.”

Sportservice has also expanded concession menus to offer additional kids favorites and a few regional items to satisfy parents and other adults.

“We’ll have hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, pizza, nachos – plus a wide variety of ice cream,” said Steve Lazroff, general manager for Sportservice at the series. “But we’re also bringing in dishes such as a hot sausage and pulled pork and roast beef sandwiches.”

Lazroff said Sportservice has added four additional Dippin’ Dots ice cream carts, various other ice cream kiosks and fresh roasted almonds. The pulled pork sandwiches are by Montgomery Inn, a favorite served by Sportservice at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. Red Osier will provide hot roast beef sandwiches, a popular Western New York treat that Sportservice serves at several locations.

Sportservice will bring a chef from another Delaware North location to prepare food for the event. To increase the level of service, Sportservice has doubled the number of points of sale at the Little League World Series.

With new menu items and added points of sale, Sportservice expects to exceed last year’s total sales for the event. The company expects to sell an estimated 40,000 hot dogs, 40,000 orders of French fries, 25,000 pizza slices and an astounding 100,000 bottled sodas and bottled waters.

“This is going to be a great year for the Little League World Series and we really feel as though our menu offerings match the unique nature of this event,” Abramson added. “Every year we try to enhance what we’re doing so we can give fans the best possible game experience.”

Delaware North Companies Sportservice is the official foodservice provider for the Little League World Series. The company became the first contract foodservice provider for the event when it won the contract in 2001. The 2008 Little League World Series will take place from Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August, 24.
