My name is Martin Black and I have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. Unfortunately there is currently no cure or medication that can be used to treat this condition

To help me dramatically improve the quality of my of life and to give me much more independence I would ask you to help me fund the purchase of a small, lightweight, foldable, wheelchair.

I have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, MS. Unfortunately there is currently no cure or medication that can be used to treat this condition. There are a number of side-effects of progressive MS. By far the most frustrating for Martin is that he is unable to walk or stand. Any travel is impossible without the aid of a carer.

A chair would enable Martin to get out and feel the sun on his face and just listen to the world around him. It would also enable him to join in everyday activities with his friends and most importantly with his family.

Of course this comes at a cost! Frustratingly, our NHS is very reluctant to fund a powered wheelchair of the type required, so we have little choice but to fund it privately. The full price of the chair that is needed is £2, 700. Having it will change Martin’s life, opening life up again around him and enabling him to enjoy the world.
