HDNet World Report Journalists Granted Rare Access to Disputed Territories
DALLAS, Aug. 18 /EMWNews/ -- Tomorrow's "HDNet World Report" will
present an exclusive look inside the conflict currently taking place in
Georgia. "HDNet World Report: Under Siege" will go beyond the current
mainstream reporting of merely the violence and diplomatic posturing, to
detail the roots of this conflict and to give these events critical
context.
HDNet World Report, already in country to report on the tensions before
the latest hostilities broke out, had exclusive access to the breakaway
regions of South Ossetia and Abhkazia, which are now at the center of this
fighting.
The program will also present exclusive footage of the UN mission in
Georgia, the joint Georgian-American military maneuvers that were occurring
just days before the Russian invasion, so-called Russian 'peacekeepers' in
Abkhazia, and Abkhaz militias.
A clip for the episode is posted at the following link:

The HDNet World Report team was granted interviews with key Georgian
officials, including Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, and other
principal figures in Abkhazia.
Cameraman Jason Maloney and producer/correspondent Kira Kay were in the
Georgian capital of Tblisi when the war broke out, having interviewed
Saakashvili only hours earlier. Maloney and Kay have won a 2008 RFK
Journalism Award and been nominated for two Emmys this year for their work
with World Report.
"HDNet World Report: Under Siege" airs on Tuesday, August 19 at 9:00
p.m. ET with a re-air at midnight ET to accommodate West Coast Prime Time.
