Heavy-Hitting Nonprofit Software Executive, Bryan Klann, Joins MPower as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
DALLAS–(EMWNews)–MPower–which provides the most open, flexible,
and powerful software for nonprofit constituent relationship management
(CRM) and fundraising–today announced that
nonprofit software sales veteran and dynamo, Bryan Klann, has joined the
company as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer (CSMO).
Klann will be responsible for acquisition of new clients, retention of
existing clients and further building MPower’s
brand equity throughout the nonprofit community.
The newly created CSMO position comes only a few months after MPower
made its widely used, mature and full feature CRM software solution
available to all nonprofits by moving to an open source model in March.
Since then, more than 1,000 nonprofit professionals and other potential
users have downloaded the software from www.mpoweropen.com.
“To attract a superstar like Bryan is a major
coup for us as it would be for any nonprofit-focused software company,”
said Randy McCabe, Founder and CEO, MPower. “Bryan
has an outstanding record of developing strong sales teams and growing
revenue exponentially for enterprise software firms serving charitable
organizations. He is one of the best and brightest in the business today
and someone who can write his own ticket professionally, so his decision
to join us is another real sign that we’re
onto something big for nonprofits.”
Klann’s Background
Klann’s 15-plus years of experience includes
accelerating the sales and marketing functions for technology companies
serving public sector organizations such as nonprofits and governmental
agencies. Prior to joining MPower, Klann served as Vice President of
Sales for the nonprofit division of Sage Software, one of the world’s
leading providers of business process management software. Sage’s
nonprofit division, well known for MIP Fund Accounting, helps more than
7,000 organizations–including American Lung
Association, American Red Cross, Easter Seals, Goodwill Industries,
Salvation Army and United Way–to manage their
accounting and fundraising processes. Under Klann’s
leadership, Sage’s nonprofit division grew
significantly with new customer acquisition increasing by 97 percent
over three years.
Klann also has served as Senior Vice President of Sales for Austin-based
Hart Intercivic which is a market leader in public sector technology. Additionally,
Klann has held management-level sales and business development positions
with Hansen Information Technologies in Sacramento and Day Software AG
of Basel, Switzerland.
“I’m thrilled
about joining MPower because while other nonprofit vendors are talking
about ‘openness’
and making a lot of noise with their marketing campaigns, this company really
is helping to bring truly open CRM to the nonprofit sector,”
said Bryan Klann, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, MPower. “In
doing so, we are helping to foster a very positive sea change in the way
nonprofits approach management of constituent relationships to drive
giving.”
Snapshot of Open CRM for Nonprofits
Hundreds of nonprofits, including some of today’s
savviest direct marketers, use MPower as a platform for more efficiently
and effectively managing daily operations (e.g., donation processing,
fulfillment, event and volunteer management, call center and mail
activity tracking, and major donor relations) and also integrating
constituent data in real time from multiple channels–such
as direct mail, television and radio, online, telemarketing and special
events–into a single, sophisticated but
easy-to-use, database.
MPower is available without licensing fees and users can access the
source code so they can integrate best-of-breed applications and modify
the software to meet their organizations’
unique needs. Users also can benefit by sharing innovations to the
software. To download MPower, please visit www.mpoweropen.com.
The alternative to MPower is closed, or proprietary, software, which
requires hefty upfront licensing fees and holds a user “hostage”
in a variety of ways. He/she cannot make changes to the product and
instead is dependent on the vendor’s roadmap,
which typically moves too slowly and/or may not include the specific
functionality he or she needs. Also users of proprietary solutions have
to pay for new modules or releases whether or not they need them.
