Hi, I’m Jessica and I’m trying to raise the remainder of the cost for my guide and service dog, Ranger.
I am totally blind, have balance problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic pain, and trigeminal neuralgia. I am undergoing tests to see if some of my symptoms may be caused by Lyme disease or MS.
Ranger is a specially trained German Shepherd from The Good Shepherd Guide and Service Dogs.
He is being trained in guide work, retrieval of dropped and named items, balance support, bracing, helping me if I fall, and more.
Our team training is scheduled for the beginning of February. Ranger and his trainer will travel to my home. The trainer will teach me how to properly work with Ranger.
I have 4 children. Having Ranger will open up so many doors to us. From taking the kids to the playground independently to walking safely around the neighborhood, to shopping independently.
I am studying to be a teacher of the blind and visually impaired. I want to teach braille. Teachers of the blind and vision impaired are in great need. Ranger will help me navigate the college campus safely, as well as other trainings I need to go to, and when I graduate, he’ll help me navigate and perform my job so much better. I can help so many more students with Ranger at my side.
