Help me hit the road rolling GoFundME ViralExposure Booster Campaign

My name is Ana, and I’m asking for help purchasing a wheelchair accessible van. I have a rare bone disease called Osteopetrosis, or as I prefer to call it, Osteo-atrocious. It causes my bones to be extremely dense and break easily. My left leg is currently recovering from its 4th femur fracture. Each time this happens, it seems to break easier. Until recently, my parents would help me transfer from my chair to the car, but with my leg getting weaker (and my parents getting older) this is becoming more difficult for them, and more dangerous for me.

With an accessible vehicle, my parents and any other caregivers would have a much easier time getting me in and out of the car. I could stay in the comfort and safety of my chair, and still have the freedom to get out and go. I could resume my Saturday outings with my mom, visit my aging grandparents, meet friends for lunch, go to church, and find more ways to get involved in the community. No more trying to balance the risks involved in multiple transfers, with the desire to get out and lead a normal life.

Everything from doctor appointments to road trips with the family would become more freeing, less daunting. The trouble is, accessible vans and SUVs cost anywhere from $25000 to $75000, and we just don’t have that kind of money. Any help, big or small, would be sincerely appreciated. I want to live as normal a life as I possibly can, not stuck at home all the time because it’s just too dangerous to move me around more than necessary.

Whether it’s going out of town to experience new places, or something as simple as meeting friends for lunch, having an accessible vehicle would open the door to many more opportunities for me. I’m not exaggerating when I say that owning such a vehicle would change my life.

Please share this page with anyone who might be able and willing to help out.

Thank you, Ana Jacob
