IRGC Using Foreign – Domestic Satellites to Surveil GCC Infrastructure – Estrella Móvil Calls for Space Measures

al-Kuwayt, Kuwait May 5, 2026 (EMWNews.com) – Open’source intelligence (OSINT) confirms that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is systematically surveilling military, energy and civilian facilities across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states using a combination of foreign’acquired and indigenous space assets. The intelligence is being used to refine target libraries for potential future strikes.

Key Findings

• Iranian long’range attacks have overwhelmingly targeted GCC nations. Since 28 February 2026, GCC states have suffered more than 4,000 Iranian missile and drone strikes, including on air bases, oil refineries, ports and power plants. Civilian GPS jamming has affected over 1,700 vessels in Gulf waters.
• The IRGC operates a half’meter resolution satellite (TEE’01B), secretly acquired from a Chinese company in late 2024, to monitor sensitive sites. Leaked documents show the satellite imaged air bases, naval facilities and industrial zones across Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar before and after Iranian strikes.
• Russian satellites have conducted systematic surveys of GCC military positions, sharing imagery with Iran. A Ukrainian intelligence assessment documented at least 24 detailed passes over 11 Middle Eastern countries between 21’31 March 2026, including multiple passes over key facilities in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. Within days, those sites were targeted.
• Iran has fully transitioned to China’s BeiDou navigation system for missile and drone guidance, making it less vulnerable to GPS jamming while retaining precision strike capabilities.
