“I Am Your Man” Hits #3 on Chart Attack

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(EMWNews – Aug. 6, 2008) – With his second album, DK Ibomeka, born and raised in London, Ontario, is gaining international notoriety as the bright new jazz musician to watch. Released in May, “I’m You’re Man,” recently leaped into the top 5 on ChartAttack’s Jazz & Blue’s chart, landing at number 4 and then quickly rising to 3, as the third most-played album on Canadian jazz radio.

Ibomeka will be headlining The Oshawa Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Memorial Park, 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 PM, where his special guest will be the incomparable Jackie Richardson. Fans can look forward to the duet that will close the show.

Ibomeka’s sophomore outing finds him firmly ensconced in his own voice, showcasing the lower end of a three-octave range. This is a solid jazz record comprised of standards such as “These Foolish Things” and “The Very Thought of You,” and standout players like saxist Kelly Jefferson and pianist Michael Shand. – Ashante Infantry, Toronto Star.

DK puts his impressive 3-octave baritone range to good use, using its stirring emotional quality and incredible power to put his own unique stamp on classic jazz standards. A mesmerizing stage presence and vocal range have brought this six foot seven jazz musician the attention of industry heavyweights and influential musicians.

George Koller, named Musician of the Year in last year’s National Jazz Awards, and producer of the “I’m Your Man” CD, states firmly that:

“The most beautiful male jazz voice in Canada belongs to DK Ibomeka.”

DK’s debut album “Love Stories” was produced by Jacksoul’s Haydain Neale.

“That voice of his can kick you in the chest and still melt a roomful of hearts at the same time… All I can say is make way for DK.” – Haydain Neale, Jacksoul

DK’s 2006 debut album “Love Stories” quickly rose to the Top Ten on Canadian jazz charts, taking DK on a two-year, whirlwind tour that saw him crisscrossing Europe four times, performing in top jazz venues including a memorable and critically acclaimed performance at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in the U.K.

“I’m Your Man” is being featured as the album of the month at Amazon Canada as part of their Canadian Artist of the Month promotion and DK was recently selected for the Radio Starmaker Fund whose previous selections have included Ron Sexsmith, Jully Black, Molly Johnson, Martha Wainwright, Jesse Cook, Jimmy Rankin, Quartetto Gelato, Serena Ryder and Patrick Watson.
