Mark Zuckerberg Claimed that Biden Government Pressurized Meta to Hide COVID-19 Content

London, United Kingdom Aug 28, 2024 (EMWNews.com) – The owner of all Meta platforms, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that the Joe Biden Government has pressured the company to censor content for COVID-19. The response came after the Biden administration asked to take down all the misinformation regarding coronavirus, its vaccines, and the adverse effects of the global pandemic. In response to the White House’s request, Zuckerberg wrote a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee on August 26 that he regrets not speaking up about this pressured situation earlier. The CEO of Meta shared that not only this decision but also many other requests when he had to take down certain content on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.

Previously in July 2021, President Joe Biden shared that social media platforms like Facebook “are killing people” by offering misinformation regarding the coronavirus as well as its vaccine. To this statement, many others have agreed such as Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. They said that the company is not doing enough to bring down information from its end which is making it harder to share the real news with people, fight the pandemic, and save lives.

The letter further claimed that Facebook has been taking ‘aggressive steps’ in order to stop spreading misinformation but the Biden administration decided to ease upon which made the vaccines spread over social media. Mark wrote in the letter, “In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree.” With a clear and consistent position, The White House said they want to make sure that the tech companies and other private actors are taking ample action to help the American People and also promoting independent choices with any bias that can lead to the spreading of misinformation.
