MEDIA ADVISORY: Rebuilding Together Detroit and The Pepsi Bottling Group Work to Repair The Samaritan Center
DETROIT, MI–(EMWNews – July 30, 2008) –
WHAT: Rebuilding Together Detroit and The Pepsi Bottling Group will work
to repair and improve The Samaritan Center. The center offers a
multi-faceted community resource center for neighborhoods in
Detroit's East Side and serves about 10,000 people a week.
The Rebuilding Together and PBG volunteers will provide
improvements to the center's courtyard that will include:
-- Laying new brick pavers
-- Sanding and Staining tables
-- Beautification/Gardening
The volunteers will also make improvements to the center's kitchen,
such as:
-- Painting
-- Cleaning
-- Lighting
Services available at the center include: medical and mental health
services, job training and placement, educational programs,
spiritual ministries, youth recreational opportunities, housing
development, business and community development, and general
community support. Services are available for seniors, children,
adults, and families.
