Millions of New Data Attributes Improve Search, Discovery, and Consumption of Music

NEW YORK, NY–(EMWNews – July 24, 2008) – Muze Inc.,

the leading independent provider of innovative entertainment information

products and media preview and discovery services, today announced that it

will now provide track-level data as a part of its forthcoming release of

MuzeMusic 2.0, the company’s next-generation media information solutions

portfolio for music product sales, audience development, and social

networking applications.

According to Forrester Research, digital music sales will grow at a

compound annual growth rate of 23% over the next five years, reaching $4.8

billion in revenue by 2012.(1) By 2011, 50% of all music sold in the US

will be digital, and sales of digitally downloaded music are expected to

surpass the sales of physical CDs by 2012. However, providing consumers

with an easier way to discover and navigate through the vast universe of

old and new music continues to present challenges to both content owners

and marketers alike. Having track and song-level metadata and descriptors

is essential for enabling search, discovery, recommendation, and

consumption of music and other forms of digital entertainment.

MuzeMusic® 2.0 is a comprehensive music database that contains normalized

commercial metadata, expert editorial content including reviews and

biographies, artist images, and music samples that enable companies to

increase their sales of entertainment products — such as tracks and albums

— and to attract and retain subscribers to Internet, mobile, and social

networking sites. One of four modular data packages, MuzeMusic 2.0 Tracks

Plus contains essential top-line commercial data — such as title, artist,

label, release date, and product code — for individual music tracks. Over

20 million new descriptive attributes have been added to MuzeMusic 2.0

product suite, including details such as composers, themes, genres, and

styles by track. The integration of these attributes with Muze album and

artist metadata greatly improves navigation and refines search results, as

well as providing key data elements necessary for generating high-quality

recommendations and playlists.

“Muze media information products are revolutionizing the way that

entertainment products and services are discovered and consumed,” says

Janice P. Anderson, chairman and chief executive officer for Muze. “The

addition of track-level data to our already-comprehensive music information

product offering will enable retailers, social networking and internet

destinations, and consumer electronics manufacturers to provide essential

information to their customers that will allow them to more easily index

and navigate the content they already have, as well as facilitating the

discovery of new songs, albums and artists.”

Muze Tracks Plus, along with MuzeMusic 2.0, will be generally available at

the end of July.
