New Missouri City Chamber of Commerce Brings Women In Business – Community Leaders Together For Women’s Retreat Event

The 1st Annual International Women’s Retreat will center women growing businesses in the booming Fort Bend County gem, Missouri City, TX. Encouraging and equipping them to prioritize wellness is the Chamber’s way of supporting those driving growth.

Missouri City, Texas May 4, 2024 (EMWNews.com) – While Texas seems to organically continue to rank among the top states for entrepreneurs and businesses, some locales are taking that growth a step further by intentionally attracting, supporting, educating and promoting businesses in their area. Missouri City is proving to be one such place. The city’s new Chamber of Commerce, which was formed near the end of 2023, is leveraging the great response they’ve been getting from local business owners and leaders of all kinds in order to bring elevated programming and resources to the area. This month, that effort culminates with a dynamic event designed to highlight some of Missouri City’s businesswomen, taking place on Sunday, March 24th.

The international aspect of the event is meant to echo themes of International Women’s Day, celebrated earlier this month, as well as celebrate the city’s signature diversity – said to be part of the secret sauce in growing businesses of all kinds in the area. Fort Bend County boasts of being “The Most Diverse County in Texas, 3rd in The Nation”. And the latest rankings from the top of this year have Missouri City as one of the top five “Most Diverse Cities In Texas”. “We really wanted to highlight the diversity because it’s not only part of what makes living and doing business here so great, but it also positions this area for explosive growth in the near future”, said Shell McClue – Founding President of the Missouri City Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s theme, “Relax, Relate, Retreat”, aims to remind busy businesswomen to make time for self-care and wellness, create a supportive community and seek time away from it all when needed. It’s a message leaders like Council Member Lynn Clouser can get behind. Now in her second term of serving as one of Missouri City’s Council Members, and currently Mayor ProTem, Clouser worked to establish the city’s Small Business Advisory Committee as one of the leading initiatives of her first few months in office. Clouser is set to be this event’s keynote speaker.

Seeking to create something robust and interactive, the Missouri City Chamber of Commerce’s Women In Business Committee designed this event to include lots to do in addition to the great speaker lineup. The retreat will showcase local vendors of international foods & drinks, as well as wellness vendors and demonstrations. A fashion show and an award ceremony honoring local women in multiple categories are also planned. The panel discussion set to close the event will explore the wellness theme in practice. Healthcare Executive & Transformative Leadership Coach, Anitha Panicker; CEO and Founder of SHE CAN WORK, Tiara Abu; and Family Law Attorney and current Judicial Candidate, Jamie Kaye Jordan – all area residents – will lead that panel discussion.

The event is being presented by Gulf Coast Bank & Trust Company, a customer relationship focused institution originally based in Louisiana and recently breaking into Texas markets. They’ve partnered with the Chamber to bring financial education to the area – highlighting their trusted customer and community service in addition to gap-bridging commercial and residential finance solutions. This women’s event is one of several specialized, community-centering programs the Missouri City Chamber has hosted since being established less than six months ago. With many more offerings already in the works, the group is set to be as fast growing and fruitful as the community it was formed to serve.
