Lee Kelly co-invented Vendor Security Management System, featured in

Information Security magazine



    FREDERICK, Md., Aug. 7 /EMWNews/ -- Lee Kelly, a Patriot

Technologies Security Engineer, has been awarded a patent from the U.S.

Patent and Trademark Office for a "Vendor Security Management System."

Kelly is the co-creator of the system which was developed prior to his

joining Patriot. The patent was published June 24, 2008.



    The Vendor Security Management System was developed for determining the

security measures of a plurality of vendors. An assessment is performed on

a plurality of vendors at a discount. The assessment is placed into a

database and is reviewable and accessible by clients who subscribe to the

management system. The management system allows clients to review and

assess the security information regarding a plurality of vendors without

the cost of performing an assessment of each vendor.



    "It was important to me and the co-inventor to solve a specific

business issue in the security world caused by the proliferation of the

internet," Kelly states. "Specifically, the need to verify the IT security

of outsourced service providers due to the tremendous increase in possible

vendors."



    Kelly also bylined an article appearing in the July 2008 issue of

Information Security magazine. In the Perspectives section, Kelly speaks to

the need for a national data protection law in his article "Call in the

Feds." The article discusses how a national data protection laws could help

curtail identity theft and boost international relations. A copy of the
