Pratt & Whitney Donates $18,200 to Palm Beach Community College’s Math & Science Summer Institute
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 6 /EMWNews/ -- Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company, has contributed $18,200 to Palm Beach Community College's Math & Science Summer Institute. The funds will go toward opening a Physics/Math track next year with a curriculum focused on aerospace technology. "Pratt & Whitney is pleased to fund the start of specialized education in aerospace technology at Palm Beach Community College," said Graham Webb, general manager, Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Florida and Mississippi operations. "We congratulate Palm Beach Community College for offering a curriculum that will help prepare students who excel in math and science for a future in engineering." Launched this year at the college's Palm Beach Gardens campus, the Summer Institute attracts advanced high school and college students with a blend of rigorous college classes, research projects and career exploration, according to PBCC President Dennis Gallon. "Pratt & Whitney's generous support will help us to expand those opportunities for future institute students," Gallon said. "This partnership will provide long-term benefits for the students as well as the growing sector of the region's business community that is centered on scientific research and industry."
