Scammers are posing as the law firm Quinn Emanuel to Target Cryptocurrency Fraud Victims, attorney

New York City, New York Sep 24, 2024 (EMWNews.com) – A group of unknown scammers is posing as the law firm Quinn Emanuel to target victims of cryptocurrency fraud, according to attorneys at MDF Law.  The scammers are using Google’s pay-per-click advertising to appear in searches when victims of cryptocurrency scams search for certain keywords.  The scammers are using the actual names and photographs of attorneys from Quinn Emanuel as part of this complex imposter scam.  The scammers also use the logo of Quinn Emanuel to make the fake website look extremely realistic.

Real Website: https://www.quinnemanuel.com/

On June 24, 2024, the FBI released a public service announcement to inform the public that criminals are engaged in this type of activity.  In addition to the FBI, multiple state bars have warned about online attorney imposter scams.

Recent investigations by MDF Law have revealed numerous websites claiming to offer recovery services for victims of cryptocurrency fraud. These sites often feature convincing designs, fake testimonials, and misleading legal jargon, all designed to create an illusion of legitimacy. Unfortunately, many victims, already traumatized by their initial losses, are falling prey to these scams.

Red Flags to Watch For:

Upfront Fees: Many of these fraudulent services demand payment before any recovery efforts begin. Legitimate attorneys typically operate on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover your funds.
Pressure Tactics: If you feel rushed or pressured to make a decision, this is a common tactic used by scammers to exploit victims’ emotions.
Lack of Transparency: Genuine law firms will provide clear information about their services and processes. If a site lacks detailed contact information or fails to respond to inquiries, be wary.
Unverifiable Claims: Be cautious of testimonials or success stories that cannot be independently verified.

What to Do If You’ve Been Targeted:

Do Not Engage: If you suspect a website is fraudulent, do not provide any personal information or payment.
Report the Scam: Contact your local law enforcement and report the site to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or relevant authorities.
Seek Legitimate Help: Consider reaching out to certified consumer protection agencies or licensed attorneys who specialize in fraud recovery.

MDF Law is a national law firm with offices in New York and California. The firm represents victims of financial scams, including SIM swapping, account hacking and pig butchering.
