Senior U.S. Securities Counsel Joins Thelen’s Growing Shanghai Office

 Woon-Wah Siu brings 14 years of experience handling corporate securities,

                      transactional, and finance work



    SHANGHAI, China, July 17 /EMWNews/ -- Thelen Reid Brown Raysman &

Steiner LLP, an international law firm, announced today that senior

securities lawyer Woon-Wah Siu, formerly with Chicago's Bell Boyd & Lloyd,

will be joining the firm's Shanghai office as of counsel in August.



    Originally from Hong Kong, Ms. Siu has been practicing as a securities

lawyer in the United States for over 14 years. She has represented

NASDAQ-listed companies in their ongoing SEC reporting and maintenance

work, commodity pool operators, trading advisors and hedge fund sponsors.

She has also handled the formation and structuring of hedge funds and

commodity pools, advised multinationals in their foreign investment

activities in China, including mergers and acquisitions and greenfield

investments, and assisted U.S. emerging growth companies in their

early-round financings and IPOs.

    Besides being a top-flight securities lawyer, Ms. Siu is an advocate of

law firm diversity, an issue of importance for Thelen. She help formulate

her former firm's diversity action plan and acted as inaugural chair of its

diversity committee, and she was a board member of Chicago Committee on

Minorities in Large Law Firms for eight years, including serving as

chairperson in 2006 and 2007.



    In addition, Ms. Siu has been a consistent contributor to professional

publications and a speaker at professional events. She was a guest lecturer

at Beijing University Law School in 2005, speaking on U.S. securities laws

and IPOs. She frequently speaks on doing business in the U.S. to Chinese

and other non-U.S. companies. She is also a frequent speaker on diversity

issues.



    Ms. Siu received her undergraduate education in The Netherlands, at

Tillburg University, graduating in 1984, and an M.A. in Economics from the

University of Warwick in Coventry, England, in 1986. She received her J.D.

from the University of Illinois College of Law, magna cum laude, in 1993.

She is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations, the National

Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Chinese American Bar Association

and the Organization of Chinese Americans, and is a life fellow of American

Bar Foundation.



    Ms. Siu speaks fluent English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. She also speaks

Dutch and has some proficiency in French.
