Unlike typical rent-to-own programs where a portion of rent is credited toward a future purchase, Work-to-Own offers sweat equity credits in addition to monthly payment-based equity. As repairs are completed and verified, equity is earned.

  • The tenant-partner pays a monthly amount, a portion of which goes toward ownership credits.

  • Upon completion of the term–typically 24 to 36 months–the participant can refinance, buy out the property, or sell the home with the owner and split the profits based on equity earned.

The owner maintains legal title throughout the process to ensure property standards are met, taxes and insurance are paid, and the long-term value of the home is protected. All repairs are documented, reviewed, and approved before equity is credited.

“We’re not just giving away houses,” said the founder. “This is a partnership. The resident gets a path to ownership. I get a better property and cash flow without having to front renovation costs. It’s a win-win.”

The program is currently open to individuals in Schuylkill County and surrounding areas who are:

  • Able to make consistent monthly payments

  • Willing and able to do basic home improvement work

  • Interested in homeownership but unable to qualify through banks or lenders
