Shanghai Ascending

From Antarctic silence to African stadiums, Danish creator Bjørn Vidø is bringing the Music in Space Experience to Shanghai — a city where technology, culture, and style converge.

Guided by producer Christian Coer, whose work has shaped several No.1 hits in China (including for superstar Cai Xukun, KUN), Vidø’s global vision now resonates with the pulse of contemporary C-Pop.

The project spans all seven continents, with performances and recordings in 82 countries. Its triple album features artists from 18 nations, each bringing unique sounds and rhythms into a cinematic live experience — a visual and musical odyssey built from more than 900 recording days.

A WORLD JOURNEY BEFORE SHANGHAI

Before arriving in China, the Music in Space Experience followed an unconventional global path.

Performances and recordings have taken place across all seven continents, together with the South African producer Kgomotso Gobeni — in countries including Barbados, Vanuatu, Uganda, Rwanda, Mozambique, Cambodia, and many more — where thousands of schoolchildren, local communities, and international audiences became part of the experience. Along the way, the project entered the global cultural conversation through concerts and media appearances in New York, Berlin, London, and Paris.

At the heart of the sound is a collective of international vocalists, including a new wave of trend-driven performers from South Africa whose dance-forward energy shapes the project’s rhythm and visual identity.

Shanghai now becomes the next chapter.

A CONVERSATION DISGUISED AS A CELEBRATION

The project blends music, film, and live performance into a cinematic show built from more than 900 recording days around the world.

Fragments of interviews with astronauts, ministers, influencers, and everyday people appear gently within the music — from global voices to a Rastafarian in Barbados. The goal is not to lecture audiences, but to invite them into a shared conversation.

Not through fear.
Through beauty, energy, and optimism.

WHY SPACE? WHY THE SOUTH POLE?

Why perform at the South Pole?
Why prepare a concert broadcast from the stratosphere?

Because perspective changes behavior.

Astronauts often describe a powerful emotional shift when seeing Earth from space — a sudden awareness that borders disappear and the planet feels shared and fragile. The Music in Space Experience translates that feeling into music and live visuals, allowing audiences to experience a glimpse of that perspective together.

The invitation is simple:
small changes in everyday habits, multiplied by millions of people, can shape the future.

Audiences are encouraged to dance, celebrate, and feel inspired — while quietly becoming part of a global conversation.

A FUTURE-FOCUSED MOMENT

Along the journey, the project has expanded into film and commercial work, including composing the soundtrack for a new Scandinavian campaign for BMW.

Today, China stands at the forefront of solar, wind, and renewable energy innovation. For the Music in Space Experience, Shanghai represents a natural meeting point between creativity, technology, and future-focused thinking.

From the quiet of Antarctica to global stages, the project continues to ask a hopeful question:

What happens when climate awareness becomes part of culture, nightlife, and global pop?

The conversation is only just beginning.
