And Eighty-Four Percent Of Men Have A Grooming Regimen That Goes Beyond
The Basics
AskMen.com And Yahoo! Shine Also Unveil Great Female Survey Results
In Conjunction With Men’s Findings
LOS ANGELES–(EMWNews)–AskMen.com, the Internet’s top men’s lifestyle site, today unveiled the
results from the AskMen.com Great Male Survey. More than 70,000
AskMen.com readers took the survey, which was broken down into five
sections: Lifestyle, Dating, Sexuality, Power & Money and Men in 2008.
The AskMen.com Great Male Survey contained over 150 unique and
thought-provoking questions that dove directly into the psyche of the
modern male. AskMen.com also teamed up this year with Yahoo! Shine (http://shine.yahoo.com),
a leading lifestyles website for women, to host the Great Female Survey
asking Yahoo! Shine readers to weigh in on selected questions from the
AskMen.com Great Male Survey. The survey included 40 questions focusing
on dating and sexuality and drew close to 10,000 respondents over a four
week period. Readers can view the results from the AskMen.com Great Male
Survey at http://www.AskMen.com.
The AskMen.com Great Male Survey challenged most modern conceptions of
men, who are often portrayed in the media as being immature,
insensitive, and afraid of commitment. Quite the opposite, the
AskMen.com Great Male Survey actually debunked many of the standard
stereotypes to show that the modern man is one driven by a sense of
values, loyalty and family. Findings included:
-
60% of men are nostalgic for the days when a handshake in business
meant something
-
77% of men look for girlfriends with “wife
potential”
-
69% of men would never cheat on their partner
-
57% of men cook at home and enjoying doing it
-
56% of men said that being a good father or husband makes a man “manly”
-
61% of men feel that no commercial depictions of the male gender are
accurate ones
“These survey results will be surprising to
many women, most of whom have a completely different perspective of what
the average man thinks and feels,” said James
Bassil, Editor-in-Chief of AskMen.com. “AskMen.com
has been exploring the male persona for the past ten years and we know
it well. The AskMen.com Great Male Survey is the perfect avenue to give
both women and men insight into male culture.”
AskMen.com also partnered with Yahoo! Shine to ask their female readers
to help define the modern day woman and to understand where males and
females differ in opinion on sex and relationships. Readers on Yahoo!
Shine weighed in on selected dating and sexuality questions from the
AskMen.com Great Male Survey and challenged many stereotypes as women
opened up on topics such as sex, money and pregnancy. Findings included:
-
Women have more sex partners – 20% of women admitted to having had
more than 15 sex partners, while only 17% of the male respondents said
have had more than 15 partners.
-
Women are more satisfied with their partners and sex life – 34% of
females respondents said they would not change a thing about their
lovers, while only 17% of men said the same. Additionally, 23% of
female respondents are completely satisfied with their sex lives,
versus only 14% of males.
-
Women are more open and honest about their sexuality – Only 17% of the
female respondents have lied to a partner about their sexual
experiences, while 31% of men have lied. More women share fantasies
with their partners than men do.
“We all know the modern woman is bold, sexy
and not afraid to go after what she wants,”
Erin Flaherty, Sex and Relationships Editor for Yahoo! Shine said. “The
Great Female survey confirms what we’ve known
all along about Yahoo! Shine’s audience in
terms of articulating this. The surprises lie more in the similarities
in the way men and women think.”
