Boston Inventor & Entrepreneur Files US Patent for Next Generation Information Security Technology Based on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Noted inventor and entrepreneur, Ralph Rodriguez, today announced he has filed for United States patent protection of his method and apparatus for combining artificial intelligence (AI) concepts with event-driven security architectures and ideas. This patent is based on research he conducted during his tenure as a Research Fellow with the M.I.T. Media Lab. The research paper outlining the unvention’s scope and technology is also published and available today.

Boston, MA (EMWNews) August 6, 2008 — Noted inventor and entrepreneur, Ralph Rodriguez, today announced he has filed for United States patent protection on his “method and apparatus for combining artificial intelligence (AI) concepts with event-driven security architectures and ideas.” This patent is based on over 30 months of primary research in addition to his tenure as a Research Fellow with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and research at M.I.T. Media Lab.

In addition to the patent filing, the Cambridge Institute of Applied Management has announced that this research paper has been published and is now available online at http://www.cioam.com/MIT_CambridgeInstitute_Rodriguez.html. The paper is titled “An investigation relating to a sub-field of AI (artificial intelligence) with event-driven security architecture and ideas from ‘The Emotion Machine1’.”

A utility patent was filed because this technology is both novel and unique because it addresses key aspects of security using artificial intelligence architectures to prevent fraud and identity theft. It is, literally, one more step toward making true thinking machines a reality.

“Ralph’s work has produced a groundbreaking approach to a very real problem, that is at least two generations beyond the security technology currently regarded as cutting edge,” said Richard C. Putz, managing director and senior fellow with the Cambridge Institute of Applied Management. “His research and development mark a milestone in the field, and illustrate the extraordinary value that can be derived from applied innovation and managerial acumen. The Institute is very pleased to host his newly published paper.”

About the Invention

The field of Mr. Rodriguez’s invention will set the industry standard for identity management in global companies and government agencies, by preventing identity theft before it happens. The solution provides real-time authentication and authorization of digital identities using an artificial intelligence (AI) based architecture which include neural and semantic network based algorithms. It answers three critical aspects in the new paradigm of security management (1) Are you who you say you are? (2) Where will I allow you to go? (3) What will I allow you to do? These algorithms promote and demote users, in real-time, to provide a multi-factor, risk based authentication model.

“The current implementations of two-factor authentication known as ‘strong authentication’ are broken across multiple industries, including financial services, energy, healthcare and defense,” said Mr. Rodriguez. “A utility patent was filed because this technology is both novel and unique because it addresses key aspects of security using artificial intelligence architectures to prevent fraud and identity theft. It is, literally, one more step toward making true thinking machines a reality.”
