Founded in August 2020 by three brothers — Kato Ramathan popularly known as Rama Kay ug, Kitimbo Hakim known as Prince Kay UG, and Kitimbo Muhamad Wasswa also known as Dj Smithkline — KAY REAL LIFE started as a music and entertainment support platform with a mission of helping upcoming artists grow professionally within Uganda’s entertainment industry.

Another growing division is Kay Real Digital, a platform focused on professional digital services including website development, coded websites, e-commerce solutions, digital marketing, advertising, music promotion, branding, and online business support. The platform aims at helping businesses, artists, and individuals build strong digital identities in the modern online world.

The company also assists artists, producers, DJs, and songwriters in registering with international Performing Rights Organizations (PROs) including ASCAP and BMI, while also helping creatives register with organizations such as The MLC and MyPPL. Additionally, KAY REAL LIFE supports creators in obtaining professional music industry identifiers and codes including ISNI, ISWC, IPN, and IPI numbers.
