EarlySense Adds Dr. Joseph Li to Its Medical and Scientific Advisory Board
2008-07-16 06:00:00
RAMAT GAN, Israel–(EMWNews)–EarlySense Ltd., developer of the EverOn™, a
contact-free, continuous patient supervision system for use in
hospitals, nursing and private homes, announced today that Dr. Joseph Li
has joined the company’s Medical and
Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Li is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School
and the director of the Hospital Medicine Program at Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, Massachusetts. BIDMC is
recognized as one of the top hospitals in the US and is a recipient of
the 2008 Premier Award for Excellence. Dr. Li is also a charter member
of the Society of Hospital Medicine and a member of the Society’s
Board of Directors.
Dr. Li, who has followed EarlySense and the development of the EverOn
over the last year, said, “US hospitals are
facing growing challenges as they work to continuously improve quality
of care and achieve better outcomes for their patients. Hospitalized
patients are getting older and sicker; financial resources are becoming
tighter; and quality mandates are being added. Technologies, such as the
EverOn, offer easy-to-use supervision tools, alert nurses at an early
stage to any significant change in a patient’s
condition and provide the medical team with potentially invaluable
information, such as a patient’s clinical
stability during the night.”
“Professor Li has an excellent perspective of
the future of care for hospitalized patients. We are fortunate to be
able to gain from his insight and experience. EarlySense is looking
forward to a close professional collaboration with Dr. Li and his
colleagues at BIDMC,” said EarlySense CEO, Mr.
Avner Halperin.
Other members of EarlySense’s Medical and
Scientific Board include Dr. Lynn Taussig, former CEO of the National
Jewish Medical and Research Center (ranked the #1 respiratory hospital
in USA), Dr. Andrew Colin, Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of
the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, School of Medicine, University of
Miami, and Dr. Richard Martin, Chairman of the Department of Medicine at
the National Jewish Medical and Research Center.
About Everon
EarlySense’s EverOn is an automatic,
continuous, contact-free patient supervision system. The EverOn measures
patient parameters from under the mattress on which the patient is
lying. There are no leads or cuffs to connect to the patient, who has
complete freedom of movement and need not suffer from any irritating
attachments. The EverOn detects heart and respiration rates, bed entries
and exits, as well as patient motion and posture change. The device
sounds an alert when a pre-set parameter threshold is crossed. The
EverOn also displays and records real time data on a continuous trend
line. The trend line is designed to help medical teams accurately assess
a patient’s condition, predict the likelihood
of deterioration of a patient’s health and
consequently avert a critical event. The EverOn is now being tested in
clinical trials in Israel and the U.S.
About EarlySense
