Agreements Offer up-Front Savings on Current Purchases, Special
Web Tools
CHARLOTTE, N.C.–(EMWNews)–Premier Purchasing Partners, LP, today announced new agreements for
custom procedure trays (CPTs), packs, gowns and related products that
offer Premier members the option of capturing up-front price savings on
current CPT purchases as well as additional expense reductions through
utilization review, standardization and conversion opportunities.
Contracted suppliers – all incumbents –
include AVID Medical Inc. of Toana, Va.; Cardinal Health of Dublin,
Ohio; Medline Industries of Mundelein, Ill.; Total Pack Management, LLC,
of Detroit, a minority business enterprise; and WindStone Medical
Packaging Inc. of Billings, Mont., a small business enterprise.
“Our new custom pack agreements, effective
January 1, 2009, position Premier members well in front of competitors
in terms of cost and price per pack,” said
Michael Georgulis, Purchasing Partners’ vice
president of Sourcing.
“The agreements contain immediate
opportunities to begin significant cost savings –
six months before the new agreements are effective –
as a result of amendments to current agreements we were able to
negotiate with two of the suppliers,”
Georgulis explained. “We are especially
pleased with the agreements’ focus on
Web-based tools for component management and conversions from
non-contracted suppliers.”
According to Georgulis, the contracting process was guided by input from
a CPT Task Force assembled from representatives selected nationwide as
well as the Premier member Surgical Services Committee, which made the
final decisions.
“The new portfolio also includes limits on
price increases related to CPT component changes,”
he said. “The contract notification is well
in advance of the effective date of the new agreements, so our members
will have ample time to review current CPT utilization and fully
evaluate the comprehensive value offered in the new agreements.”
The 60-month agreements are available to acute care and continuum of
care members of the Premier healthcare alliance.
